The East Suffolk Youth Priority Action Group (ESYPAG)’s award-winning youth holiday activities programme is now welcoming applications for its sixth and final round of funding.
The programme which has been running since 2016 to improve the variety of opportunities available to young people aged between school years 7 – 13 (ages 11-18 years) in east Suffolk, thanks to £50,000 in funding from the East Suffolk Partnership.
This round of funding will be used to organise projects taking place during May/June half term and school summer holidays 2018 and can be applied by youth organisations across east Suffolk.
Activity providers across Suffolk Coastal and Waveney are being asked to involve and provide not just sport, but also activities promoting the arts, science as well as activities to improve skills, as well as activities aimed at young disabled people.
The project led by young people, with support from the District and County Councils won the Anne Dunford OBE award – for youth participation at Community Action Suffolk’s 2017 awards last October.
The award recognises youth participation, where children and young people aged 11 to 19 (or up to 25 with disabilities/additional needs) were actively engaged in the set up and running of a project or venture.
The team were also runners up at the Stars of Lowestoft and Waveney Awards, in the category of Team of the Year.
Final decisions on successful applications will be made by a panel of young people who will also benefit from the project management skills they learn from the project.
Ray Wang, former ESYPAG and ESP Board Member, said: “We’re proud to have supported a vast range of exciting activities for young people since the project began in 2016 and are pleased that the success of the project has been recognised by the community.
“So far, the activities we have supported have helped give young people the key skills they need, but also give them an opportunity to have fun and meet new people.
“The project is proving to be making a real difference to the lives of young people across east Suffolk, so we look forward to receiving applications from providers for activities this spring and summer."
Applications need to be completed by Friday 16 March at 5pm.
